Mercury Associates Welcomes Two Industry Veterans to its Consulting Team

Rockville, Md. – October 28, 2015- Mercury Associates, Inc. announced that Steve Saltzgiver and Raynald Thibaudeau have joined the firm as Senior Associates. Both individuals bring decades of fleet management experience in both the public and private sectors to North America’s largest dedicated fleet management consulting firm; Steve in the United States and Raynald in Canada.

Steve Saltzgiver has almost 40 years of experience in the fleet industry. After beginning his career as a bus mechanic with Utah Transit, he rose steadily through the ranks of the fleet management profession, holding positions as a municipal fleet manager, state government fleet manager in the states of Utah and Georgia, Vice President of Fleet Operations for Coca-Cola Enterprises, and Vice President of Fleet Management for Republic Services Inc. He has managed fleets of as many as 50,000 vehicles and pieces of equipment. Steve has extensive experience leading process improvement teams and cost reduction initiatives; optimizing complex maintenance operations, and executing comprehensive talent management programs. He has served on a variety of committees and task forces for fleet industry trade and professional associations, and has taught workshops and best practice seminars on a wide array of topics in the US, Canada, and Europe. Steve holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.

Raynald Thibaudeau also brings to Mercury almost four decades of experience in the fleet industry. Like Saltzgiver, he began his career as a bus maintenance technician, and assumed increasing levels of responsibility in a series of positions with Bell, Canada’s largest telecommunications company; SNC-Lavalin, a prominent engineering, procurement, and construction management company; and Canada Post. He also founded and ran a successful fleet management consultancy for several years. Raynald has extensive experience in lifecycle management, replacement planning, fleet rightsizing, fuel management, maintenance and repair shop management, parts supply chain management,information systems, telematics and re-engineering of administrative support processes. He holds an MBA from the Université de Sherbrooke (Sherbrooke, Quebec).

In other personnel news, Mercury announced that Scott Conlon has been promoted to the position of Manager. Scott joined Mercury in 2014 after serving as Equipment Management Section Chief for Montgomery County, MD. A US Marine Corps veteran who served a tour of duty in Iraq, he has a Graduate Certificate in Public Management from George Washington University in Washington, DC, holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland at College Park, is a Certified Automotive Fleet Manager, and an ASE-certified Master Automobile, Medium/Heavy Truck, and Transit Vehicle Technician.
